Help please

I downloaded the original SoM King Field 1 game translated to english. Runs fine but for some reason when I open up MENU screen it starts flickering really fast. Is there a way to fix this issue? Its driving me nuts! Also, can I use a PC game USB controller and select control settings manually?

The flickering is incompatibility with with modern graphics settings/cards etc.  I assume you are probably running a Windows 7 pc or newer?  I don't know of any real fix for it unfortunately, you could try the various driver settings under the game settings for video controller but I wouldnt be surprised if its just a general incompatibility with modern Direct X or some such.  Mayhaps try disabling your graphics card and running on just motherboard graphics hardware?
