Issues with Preview viewer in Parameter Editor
« on: May 25, 2015, 10:03:59 pm »
I'm currently using Windows 8, running SoM as an Admin and with compatibility set to Windows XP.

The preview window will work and display monster models but nothing else.
I've tried right clicking my desktop to open properties and change the 3D acceleration but I don't get a properties option.
Any suggestions?

It's an issue that I have too. There's no real fix for it though, you just kinda have to work around it or use a PC with Windows XP. If you need an alternative way to preview enemy and NPC models, you could always set up a test map and do it within the map editor.

Just throwing in my 2-cents worth on this. I think part of the problem is that Windows 8 lacks some of the old backwards compatible 16-bit DirectDraw DLLs. No DLL, no rendering and, in many cases, a program crash. I have tested the Editor on a Win10 machine and, oddly enough, have yet to encounter problems.

It is also the reason why I make sure all of my old computers remain running despite age. When Microsoft makes a big OS leap, backward compatibility is the first thing to go out the window.
