swordofmoonlight.com issue
« on: January 17, 2013, 06:49:14 pm »
FYI: I noticed just now that this site seems to block hotlinks on the internet. So like if you go here (http://www.swordofmoonlight.net/archives/sword-of-moonlight/2012/12/rathmor-project-demonstration/#comments) and try to access this thread via the posted link you will go to various crazy places each time. But if you copy the link and post it into the address of your browser you will get there.

Usually hotlink prevention is used for embedded images and other kinds of large files only. Not links to webpages. Kind of prevents people from linking to this thread :beerchug:

What's even funnier is if you click on the www.swordofmoonlight.com link on the homepage of www.swordofmoonlight.net that is broken too.

Took me to http://foodamerican.com/omwi.htm?h=1222197. WTF Right? I don't understand why it goes to random URLs. That doesn't seem like a legitimate way to do things

This may be a serious issue with SoM.com. A couple days back, I noticed links to SoM forum were taking me to spam sites instead (including porn sites). I assumed my PC was infected with a redirect virus, but was unable to find any mal-ware on my system.  I have only had the redirects happen when linking to SoM.com, and now others are having the issue too. It raises the possibility the site has been hacked or such. Maybe worth looking into Todd.

Yeah, I tried the link posted on the SoM.net site, and I was also sent to some random site. And my computer's malware free. :/

I dare to say if the webmaster (dmpdesign) doesn't straighten this out ASAP I hope you all will finally find your way over to www.swordofmoonlight.net.

It would probably be best for Sword of Moonlight right now if there was just one website. It isn't finished by any means but I just have to document the mouse extensions tonight and then I am going to focus on the login issues and then finished or not it should at least be serviceable.

Anyway, I can handle another 15$ a year to keep the swordofmoonlight.com domain alive and archive this site if DMP ever gets tired of the hassle. I can see this site being useful as a separate legal entity if From' ever gets litigious. Otherwise it just looks a bit schizophrenic to your average Sword of Moonlight neophyte.

BTW: What is going on here is the http pages are being redirected based on user agent's referrer. How the hell it got that way is anybody's guess.

I cant seem to replicate any of your issues

Is everyone still having problems? Can you give me a guaranteed repeatable step that shows the issue?

I think the issue is resolved...I contacted my domain provider's support and they think it was on their end (is that even possible?)

anyhow, let me know if you see any further issues.
