I am literally on the verge of peeing myself with the idea you found a modelling program that opens up the .mdl files as I could never find one.  Getting a step closer to having new enemy models make me reconsider the statement i made earlier that i would never make a second SOM game.

I am assuming (sorry to go off on a tangent) that at the very least a person could manipulate an existing model to a degree and still have the animation work..I think I will look into this.

I am still not sure how it is you can see the proper character in your editor but not in game....that one stumps me, and I am looking in John's direction for help on that  :mixed:

hey guys I'm home, Gonna watch a flick with the wife, but then back to the grindstone, I thank you guys for the help, and yes john I would love a how to on how to embed the textures to the the new proof model:) thanks would be perfect in fact:) as far as poser goes it is worth the the price, I mean it used by lucas arts and disney/pixar by thier devolopers it exports textures to any res, including 256x 256 the only problem I have is lining up the textures  axis to match pre existing SoM texture paletts, but hey I play with it everyday and learn more everynight, I use Poser when map building gets dull:) it has full CGi features too whitch I hope to use later in the build for an awesome intro, starting movie and endings, they have a demo on the web but I think it still requires a credit card to activate the 30 day trail, but to my knowledge it can read almost any model you can through at it.... I can't wait to get more characters and prettier ones to show you guys..... anyway update later on my progress thanks again you ALL ROCK:)

In case you all are wondering what I've been up to... this (http://www.swordofmoonlight.net/wp-print.php/ex/) is basically a printer friendly view of the new website. It will both let you print out pages and see pages all in one piece that don't fit on the Moonlight Sword theme without being broken up. Also if the ML theme makes you have epileptic fits, this one is for you

I'm about to start working on the translation hosting page/s and Todd tells me he's finishing up a top secret project which will hopefully provide a nice test/showcase for how this will all work. I have not developed the code that will break the pages up, so the translation projects will default to the printer friendly view for now, as they are quite long. Serious translators would probably want to work that way anyway.

I won't setup a thread here about the website, but you can get in on the action if you please here (http://www.swordofmoonlight.net/bbs/index.php/topic,252.html)

In case anyone is confused about exactly what is going on there is a little bit of an explanation at the top of that link^

The gist however is once this site is up to the task the swordofmoonlight.com domain we all know so well will be configured to point to the new website. Until then I will regard the website to be "under construction" however there will surely be some useful info and facilities there after not too long.

If you'd like to help with filling in a few pages or ask questions or have a say about where things are heading, please visit the forums/link above.

PS: Personally my immediate goals are to finish up the translation pages and get some docs and a dl/setup page up for Ex.

Hey Holy, my drive at home that had gettext on it went belly up.

I think I would like to use your exgettext stuff to finish up what I am doing if you can tell me where I might  be able to download it?

Thanks.

Nevermind, found it and placed it here:

www.swordofmoonlight.com/SOMTools/Exgettext_v02.zip

Want me to put a link to this somewhere on the main SOM pages?

Worked feverishly all thru the night on this (http://www.swordofmoonlight.net/wp-print.php/ex/lang/en_US/LC_MESSAGES/KING?S%20FIELD/) ...if you login you can get a feel for translation, but the diff is not sent to the server yet (you can see a preview of what is to be sent however) and in case you're wondering, the KING'S FIELD template is stripped down for testing purposes.

PS: @Todd, if you can write up a practical tutorial for Exgettext outlining your experience you can post something. I'm planning to have a proper home page for it soon enough though I don't relish writing anything about it. I apparently have a difficult time explaining things in a way people can relate to anyway.

EDITED: http://www.swordofmoonlight.net/wp-print.php/ex/lang/en_US/LC_MESSAGES/Diadem%20of%20Maunstraut/ is also there... it's in English anyway. Trismegistus is there too. I think only the choices (eg. PATH[1]) comments are really problematic as expected.

EDITED: Noticed a new bug in Exgettext that appears to happen when a message ends in a quotation mark. There are quite a few of these in DoM.

I noticed Todd mention peeing himself at the top of this page / got the impression this might be the thread where people were discussing getting the mdl files to open up in Poser was it?

At one point I thought this thread was more of a sticky for people to report their shit on a regular basis, but my impression now is it was just yet another one off shout in the darkness..

So anyway if everyone is cool with derailing this thread at this point, I'm on the cusp of starting to work with the mdl files and I'd very much like to know precisely what was done and by whom and by how in terms of importing the mdl files into some non-Som suite of some sort.

PS: @ML the alt girl (on the previous page) looks really nice... I wonder though at this point. If we're making add-ons for Som to be uploaded online. The eyes are ok in your own game, bug Som NPCs don't have eyes so to speak. So please make a version without eyes to share with everyone some day (you can still share the one with eyes if you like) ...I want everyone to keep track of your custom stuff so we can pool it together properly when the time comes. So anyway, yeah, should we generally have a no eyes (eyeball monsters excluded) policy or what?
