Any news on the re-print of a few physical copies of Dark Destiny? When I asked around in December it was in the works to make a few copies but I haven't seen anything on the forums at all about it since. I would really love a copy for the collection, that's why Im hounding DMP XD
-
I asked Todd if I could print up some new copies of his game a few months back, and he said it was OK, but he never sent me the files. [begin guilt trip ] I suppose he's too busy with his fancy, newfangled 360 games to remember bout us poor old SoM fans these days. [end guilt trip... did it work???] :ninja:
-
Would be awesome to get a physical copy with that manual and everything. I would pay for it, really.
-
I apologize for not getting back to this sideproject...it is coming I promise.
Unfortunately I had a set back a month ago or so in that my lightscrbie burner does not have a working windows 7 driver (damn you Canon Inc) so I had to scrounge up my old SOM xp machine to get it working. It is now functional and I was able to get all the files to fix another run of copies. I will probably pop out a last run of 10 and send them out to whoever is still in need of one, no charge of course.
I know I owe Guyra and Verdite one, I will add you to the list and there were a few others who emailed me I will have to check on to make sure I make enough. I had contemplated redoing the cover art as I was never too keen on it in the first place, would you prefer the original or a revamped version?
-
Nice to hear from you again dmp! Concerning the art, there is only one real answer; make a reversable cover with both old and new cover art! =)
Looking forward to this so much. What was included in the original release btw? Soundtrack? Manual? Covers on the cd's?
-
Personally, I really like the artwork on it. I'd rather see some new artwork on another game. ;)
Really looking forward to getting this, Todd! I'm actually just waiting to get the physical copy before playing the game! :D
-
Still hearing crickets about this. How about letting us pay a little bit for the game so you can afford the new printer stuff or whatever it is that is crashing this wonderful project?
-
I agree, because I'd love to have a copy together with my collection here!
-
How about a bump here? This can't be forgotten!
-
Still interested in this and I won't let up =)
-
Yeah Todd, the masses are rioting "Encore!! Encore!!"
8bit, lets go camp on his lawn till he gives in. I'll bring the popcorn and roasting marshmallows!! :popcorn2:
-
And yet again I let this slip...smack me!
I found my stuff, got my cd burner stuff working over the weekend. Perhaps its time to make a run of copies, I do need one for myself as well hehe.
-
SMACK!!!!!
:sflower:
-
John can you do me a favor and tell me what serial number is on your disc? I want to make sure i start the new run on the right number :)
-
The number on the disk is S#-0017. It's still one of two favorites in my entire game collection.
:beerchug:
-
TY John, burned and labeled install disks and anthologies for 18-20 today.
now im gonna redo the books etc this week.
-
I decided to spruce up the map book and instructions...I am going to upload a .pdf of the entire world map as one continuous vectorized file, so you can zoom in real close for details. I attached two images so you can see what I mean about zooming in for better detail. I am about done with the north village, and only 18 more maps to go!
-
Very cool! :D
Been wanting a copy of DD for a while, now. ;)
-
Those maps look really great.
-
Those are very nice! They make the game world seem more alive.
-
Good to see a new run of copies. I just hope I have better luck running it off the disc than the download that I can't get to run
-
Hi Darsian, can you tell what happens when you try to run Dark Destiny?
Also, are you using XP Windows7, Windows8 or something else?
Did you download it from the V 1.07(793MB) link here (http://www.swordofmoonlight.com/DD.htm)?
-
Yes I am also interested in what is going wrong? I think I may host the files in a dropbox link as well if people are having issues with the files.
Darsain, I got your email, I want to return that to you, I won't charge a fan shipping/cost to make the disks anymore, but I will make it for you for nothing;)
Please be patient though, I am redoing the map and email inserts to make them better than the original run, so it will get done soon, but probably not within the next week.
-
Yes, I used that link, and it downloaded. I extracted it to the desktop, opened the folder, and could not find an install file. The game.exe file wasn't working either. My OS is Vista 64 bit.
Thanks in advance for the help
-
Alright, I've got it working, now if I can just get this 360 controller configured properly...
-
Excellent! Can you share what the problem was in case anyone else has the same issue?
-
Leave the game.exe in the folder. Right click it and create a shortcut for the desktop
-
Well that's easy. Maybe file permission or such. Thank you for the info.
I used my 360 controller for this game along with Joy2key. You have to unplug the 360 controller when you start the game up so that it doesn't try to auto-configure the controls. But otherwise it worked great. I think I still have the Joy2Key configuration file for the 360 controller floating around if you want it.
-
I actually ordered a nice PS2 controller clone for the PC a few months back. Thought I'd use it with this game. However, it had gotten damaged during shipping. The seller sent me two new ones, but they never even made it, so I got my money back. Really annoying. I need to get another one.
-
I've had the same problem with stuff shipped from China. It's usually loose in a bubble mailer and plastic stuff gets cracked pretty easy. :sadani:
If you haven't checked them out, you might consider a PS2 to USB adapter. Official PS2 controllers are usually better quality than clones and you can get them pretty cheap.
-
There may be software that will allow you to connect the PS3 controller if you have one via USB. I believe motionjoy software will allow you to load it on a modern pc.
-
Yeah, Verdite told me about it. :)
I might still just get another PS2 controller clone though, if only simply because that's what I'd prefer. And they're super cheap, anyway. ;)
-
PS3 controller is no good in my experience for PC gaming: the sixaxis often registers as face button presses. There may be some way around it, but I've never found it.
-
Ive never had that problem, I use Motioninjoy
-
HwitVlf, you mentioned that you still have the Joy2key file for this game, could you please post it?
-
Certainly :beerchug:
-
Much better, thank you.
-
How about some thread necromancy. Physical copies bro! Some of us are ready to pay you for it
-
..and ...ummm (yeah that's it!).. and 8bitninja has seven hungry, crippled children at home. All they asked for next Christmas is one little physical copy of Dark Destiny...One small bit of happiness in their otherwise bleak existence. Todd, how can you say 'no' to seven poor, defenseless, starving, cripple children!!
(Do you think he bought it 8bit :ninja: !?)
-
I hope he did. I've been bugging him about this since three years back
Also, please think of the children!
-
Well theres something in the works. I wont say much about it, but I am part of it.
-
Physical copies will be made, but yes, there will be some more updates first. Map revamps, new models/textures to replace the really terrible work I did originally  and some other stuff that will have to be a surprise.
I can tell you this, you will get a better game in the end, but sadly it won't be backwards compatible with old game saves.
-
Sounds fantastic. But please be sure to include sweet-ass packaging and the soundtrack
-
No worries, it will come well packed with cool stuff!
-
I was thinking about playing KFDD the other day. I think I'm going to wait a bit longer though. This sounds quite interesting...
-
I was playing on an HD TV and cruising around the Pirate's Cove when suddenly the HDMI cable came loose and my display went all funky. Next thing I know, I get back into the game and the music (BEST MUSIC EVER) isn't working, sadly :sadani:. I'll have to start another playthrough at some point, but not until I get me one of those physical copies.
-
I havent had that happen to me before, when I lose my HDMI I just save and reload. Maybe its the cable?
-
Does the sound go through your HDMI cable? Some PC to HDMI setups are video only. It's weird that only the music would go out. I assume the sound effects still work. I'm clueless
-
I cant see any reason the music would stop working either. Can you play it via media player?
-
Yes it works on media player. I don't think it's the games fault, just me removing the cable while in play caused a rare glitch, I think. Next playthrough I'll avoid playing on my TV.
PS: I'm a Silvarion Slasher now :3
-
Is it a Samsung TV by chance? I had issues with my ps3 before on mine where a disconnected it accidentally...I ended up having to actually unplug the tv, the ps3, and then switch the hdmi cables etc back in everything and plug em all back in...was so strange.
-
I had something similar happen on a Vizio TV. After reconnecting the cable, it would power on but only black screen. I unplugged the power cord hoping it would reset but no luck. I finally disconnected all the cables to haul it off, but on a whim, plugged it back in one last time. It worked perfectly normal. My suspicion is that the non-power cables (speakers etc) keep the TV grounded to the electric system even when the main power cord is unhooked. If there are capacitors inside, they could supply the 'positive' power and keep the TV's internal computer from rebooting until everything is totally disconnected. That TV is still working many years later :smash2:
